* Running in snow. I love running in snow, particularly at night. There's nothing like the sound of soft-pack powder crunching underfoot, the feel of light dusting snow falling in cotton-soft curtains, the taste of pinpricks, running between diffuse haloes of streetlamps. Yeah.
* Boreale Blonde on tap. This is good stuff, and to my mind one of the best reasons to go to Montreal. Did we get far from the hotel last weekend? No... the frostbite warning sent us indoors with all the other Quebecois. Thanks to ![]() | ![]() |
* Chapter 12 of The Lions of Al-Rassan, by Guy Gavriel Kay. By this point in the novel the characters are so finely drawn in all their evolving complexity that none of them needs to be named. The chapter holds a conflict of the kind only close friends in mortal danger understand, and it ends with humor. I loved the language so much that I nearly wept. (In Chapter 13 I did.)
* Independent Women. I'm besotted.
